Replacement External Electric Fuel Pump

Getting the truck closer to running, but needing a replacement electric External fuel pump.  The one currently on it is a Walbro 12v2401 and now days it's replaced by a newer model but a bit pricey for it in the $150+ price range plus all the listed replacement models either don't seem to exist or just as pricey.

Is there a cheaper replacement model that can be found at the local auto parts store or Amazon?

     I just checked my local O'reilly and they range from $52.00 to $500.00 for a holley high performance that will work for you.
     Do a search online, they are plentiful.

How important is it to stick to the GPH and PSI specs of the old pump? As I am seeing them range quite a bit.

     If this is fuel injected then not much, if it is not then it is important, too much pressure with nowhere for it to go could build and burst a hose.  I believe, depending on the fuel hose you use, the burst rating for most fuel hose is around 300 psi.

yeah it's a 500cfm edelbrock carb so looks like it needs a 4-6.5psi fuel pump and others have been recommending a fuel pressure regulator as well since they say those pumps rated 3-7 really put out 8 and the pressure could blow past the needle seat. 

I decided to tear down the old fuel pump just to see, and found that the bellow in the old pump had melted into tar, so found a cheap rebuild kit online and going to give that a shot for $14 and hopefully some savings.

If that doesn't work well hopefully I learned something in the mean time versus just buying off the shelf again like I did with the starter (in my defense the starter was really cheap though).

Word of warning, don't over-tighten the filter onto the pump as it breaks the crimped seal of the filter and causes leaks (thankfully easy shipping/returns with amazon prime).
