Are the cab from a 73 the same as the cab from a 83?

Not exactly.

They can be made to work in place of each other. The biggest difference being where the hood and fenders mount on the outer edges of the cowling.

     If you do switch cabs newer/older or vise verse, you will need to use the cab mounts of the year of the cab.

Nothing at the firewall where the hood mounts is the same.  So going from a 81-87 cab to a 73-80 cab on a 81-87, you will have to modify the cab for the hinges.
