Any ever try one of these modules?
« on: January 27, 2007, 10:15:00 pm »
I was browsing items on ebay today and came across this performance HEI module.  I am contemplating buying one just for curiousity if anything else.  I am 110% happy with my 383 stroker, I just like playing with gadgets, especially gadgets for my trucks.

Anyway, just curious, anyone try one?

Well who makes it? If you want a good module that will last buy an MSD or an original GM. A no name brand module is just asking to get stuck on the side of the road.

edit* Actually if you are running a factory HEI I garuntee you that your next best upgrade is an MSD distributor, coil and module. You won't believe the difference! I've tweaked every GM HEI out there and when I ever decided to buy my 1st MSD distributor to go with my MSD ignition I kicked myself in the @#%$ for waiting so long to do it.

Looks just like the MSD 83641 But ya never know.Is this company importing or exporting these things? I ask because I bought a Distubutor 93' Chevy from one of those companies on E-bay, And you would swear that it was a MSD. They were to be exported overseas.Good distubutor.

I got an HEI on my mildly-built 350 in my 85(81) SWB. I replaced the cap and coil with MSD but not the module. Changed the plugs too and it idled and started a little nicer than it used to but no power gains. Should I toss in the module too maybe?

A GM HEI? A GM HEI sucks for performance. You can try tuning it all day long but you'll never get the performance you'll get out of an MSD. I use the Dist, 6AL, and blaster2. Nice combo
