« on: February 19, 2015, 08:50:41 pm »
Hello I am getting rid of my mechanical fuel pump and saw these block off plates with pipe fittings in them. Any one have an idea why the make these? Thanks

Notes: Includes 12 AN fitting, which can be used to hook up vacuum pump and gauge or as a drainback location.

If you have a standard SBC, use this:

Ya I saw that I guess I was just curious for more information like is this a good drain back point for a turbo? Why would you hook a vacuum pump to your crankcase? Is it an alternative to hooking your PCV to the intake? PS I cannot wait for the gauge pods next month!

Yes it is a excellent spot for an oil drain back location.

Vacuum pumps are for all out racing. When you need that extra "little bit".

Cost vs. benefit. Is the negative pressure under the pistons and the lightly better ring seal worth the money and the parasitic drag on the crankshaft?
