85 chevy K10 skittles build
« on: January 20, 2015, 08:44:39 pm »
So, earlier last year I bought a 1985 chevy k10 long bed with a 6'' lift, and 35s. Bought it for 1400 from a mutual friend. I rocked this rig for the summer, and now it has to change. I bought a set of 44x18.5x16.5 gumbo monster mudders with nice tread for $450. I recently acquired a 12'' used lift kit off craigslist. So far my progress of the build is i installed the front springs and brake lines. My plan is to do the gears, motor, paint, and a dash pad  :) . Here are some pictures when i bought it till now. My paint scheme i am doing like my dads 1991 toyota. "skittles"

Sounds like a cool project.
I pulled the 12" lift and 44" swampers off my truck a few years ago.
Is this an off road only truck?

I managed to finish up the rear end, and get the shocks in on all 4 corners. I am going to look at a set of axels dana, and a 14 bolt. Both axels have 5:38 gears installed in them. The bad news is i found a rot hole in frame by spring mount, and crack. So i am going to ix it with heavier steel, and would like to box frame in spots.

Based on the above pic, your going with the tire size on the front or the tire size on the back? Cuz those are some pretty big treads.

All the way around are the 44s. 12" of lift all the way around as well. I need to get longer shocks unless i mount the dual shock bracket to the top side of the axel.

So all 4 tires are the same size? The rears look like they are 1 size smaller?? Optical illusion?

Illusion probably. i just have them sitting in front of the 35s to give me an idea of what it will look like.
