floor board replacement
« on: August 31, 2002, 02:05:00 pm »
The floor boards on my 78 GMC are rotten! Anyone have ant tips on installing the new ones??? My main concern is the support braces that are welded to the bottom of the floor board. Mine are also rotten; can I just cut everthing out and then BOLT the new part in insted of welding? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

No, you will need to cut out the rusted area's and weld in new steel . You will have to probably fabricate some pieces to fit. It is time consuming but if you do it right it won't come back to you. Good luck.

Don't use Tri Plus replacement panels they don't fit for crap. I have been buying my rust repair panels from Astro automotive in Mass. and they used to sell Tabco panels but they got a good deal on a truckload of these pieces of crap.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
