77-84 Bumpers
« on: March 17, 2016, 11:36:59 am »
I fit an 84 cab/clip on a 77 chassis.

Will a front bumper off a 84 PU fit on the 77 frame?  both bumpers are gone.   I like the later models, they have cleaner lines.....Or will a 77 front bumper look ok w/ an 84 cab/front clip?  thx

If I remember correctly, 73-80 and 81-87/91 have different brackets for the frame.
The bumpers are swappable, so long as you have the correct brackets.
Some people modify the brackets to fit, I don't remember what needs to be done, just that it is on the frame side of the bracket.

Front frame needs to be cut and drilled, see  http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=9070.0 for pictures and differences.

After seeing this, I decided to do research, as I remembered that you do NOT need to do this on a 81-91 to 73-80 bumper swap.

The frame does not need any modifications when doing this swap, just the brackets.
