Pulled my 81 step side out of storage after 6 years.
« on: July 07, 2016, 07:15:30 am »
Its been 6 years since I the motor blew up in my 81 stepside.  The day the motor went the truck was put in a storage bin at my friends work and pretty much forgotten about (out of sight, out of mind).
Although this truck has been sitting for 6 years, Ive kept myself busy in the square body hobby. Around the same time the motor in this truck let go, I discovered the world of CUCV's (Military square body trucks).
Last winter I bought a house with a 3 car garage.  When I got the house I picked up a 90 blazer with a fisher Minute Mount II 8.5' V plow for the driveway.
Like I said, I never stopped playing with square body's, I just kinda forgot about this one.
After 6 years I'm still not sure about what the new motor will be.  At 1 point I was thinking of running a 6.2 diesel from a CUCV (I have a few spares).  I'll probably just stay with a SB.  Not sure if I should  keep the TPI set up, or maybe go with a Ram Jet 350 crate motor.. Lots of options..
Its boating season now, so this truck probably  won't see any much needed attention until the fall.
  At least its home now.

Cool pickup!

My buddy had an 81 step side when we were in high school.  It was a 2wd with a 350 and we got into plenty of trouble in that truck!

Oh that truck, you have talked about that one many times. Glad to see you pulled it out of storage.

Looks to be in great shape cosmetically! Wish I had a "forgotten truck" that nice. There's no season like boating season! What kind of boating are you doing?
