Carb kit question
« on: September 01, 2017, 11:38:20 am »
I'm planning on rebuilding my quadrajet on my 454, how do I find what rebuild kit I need? There's so many out there and I don't know if there's a difference between years. The casting numbers are 17085212 1685 HPA

You go by the casting number
,                           ___
                         /  _ _ _\_
              ⌠ŻŻŻŻŻ'   [☼===☼]

regular part stores don't make it too easy to find a specific rebuild kit on their websites. I found one on a specialist website that had all the casting numbers listed. Thanks anyway

Problem with some kits they are cheap and rubber parts don't hold up to ethanol. They need to be made of Viton or they will swell up.

I personally use cliffs high performance online for my q jet parts and kits. You can also call and order.
Costs more but worth it imho.

He also has a forum for questions regarding the Q jet. He does like to know that you used his kit when giving advice.

Hi Hulk:
Sounds like you have the original Rochester M4M series Q-jet for your truck by your casting number. It could be either a M4M, M4ME, or M4MC. The guys at quadrajetparts.com should be able to get you what you need as far as a rebuild kit and whatever other little parts end up needing replacement.
Regards,
Henry
