Ls purchase

Hey guys wanted to know I can across a ls 6.2 out of a 07 escalade  and wanted to know should I buy or not. The thing is the guy told me the motor is knocking. I wanted to get one and planned on rebuilding what I got anyway since it wasn't gonna be stock. What should I offer him for it that's a pretty good deal. It's just the motor no harness

It's a core value. $600-$1000 for a good rebuildable core. I'm sure you could find a better deal if you keep looking.
