Tailgate glass channel guides
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:01:36 pm »
1990 Suburban V2500 - Cummins diesel - 6sp Manual

The tailgate glass channel guides have seal inserts that are worn out on my Suburban.  I checked out several sources but they only sell the the complete glass channels and it's $120 for the pair.  Where can I buy just the seals to rebuild my channel guides?

The guides look like the following.  I just need the black seal inserts.
1990 ¾ ton 4x4 Chevy Suburban
-Cummins Diesel - 12 valve - factory rebuilt
-6 speed bullet proof manual transmission - NV5600
-Gear Vendors Overdrive
-Upgraded Holset HX-35 turbo
-NP205 iron transfer case
-3.73 gears
-2" Lift

There was someone on this forum who relined his channels with velcro (or similar) - have you searched the forum?
My Burb has the same problem but as I only drop the window to open the tailgate it doesn't seem to be a big deal

Thanks a lot, I was able to search for the post you were referring to.  I think you saved me a bunch of money.  Velcro is a great choice of material for this.

Thanks everyone for your help!  I ended up buying a rebuilt motor from napa for $99 and took apart and relined the side channels with some 2 inch velcro from Lowes. If anyone is interested in how I rebuilt my channels let me know and I'll take some photos and go into more detail about it.
