Hi just wondering if there is anyone out there that could tell me what the towing capacity is for a 78 silverado, two wheel drive?

The answer greatly depends on the options.  Rear end ratio, engine, etc...

And also if you're talking about towing as a pull-behind or as a fifth wheel. A truck is rated for much higher towing ratings when used for fifth wheel towing.

I have a 79 Silverado 1/2 Ton with an Olds 5.7L Diesel. According to the owners manual it is limited to 2000 lbs towing capacity, so as you can see towing capacity varies widely based on the engine, trans, and suspension.
