WOO rusty leaf spring holder
« on: May 16, 2007, 04:32:22 pm »
79 Scottsdale 3/4 ton.  LH Rear leafspring bracket is rusted pretty bad.  Previous owner pointed this out, and we wondered if there is a direct replacement part to bolt in.  Is this common?  What would be the best method of fixing, weld it up or replace?

I don't know of anyone reproducing these.  I would get them off a donor truck and weld or bolt it in using grade 8 bolts.

Thanks. I think it will be fine until winter.  I wish I had access to a sandblaster, then I'd get under this truck and clean things up so I could see how bad the rust reallly damaged things.  Gotta love GM sheetmetal!  I swear these trucks and B-bodies would rust away on the moon.
