Brake booster rod to pedal trouble. pic included

ok heres my problem... last night i started taking off my brake booster on my 74 k20  because it needs replacing. Everything under the hood came off good but when i went to disconect where the booster rod meets the brake pedal i found this:


yes thats right whoever had this thing apart last must not have had any cotter pins laying around so they decided to weld a nice bead on there instead! i tried hitting it a few times with a hammer and punch but that didnt work at all. my buddy is coming over later with his dye grinder and a carbide burr ball but i dont know if that will get it off either. anybody have any suggestions what to do with this? i guess if worse comes to worse i could try and get a sawzall in there and cut it and replace the pedal itself...any help is apprieciated.

It is missing the bracket that holds it also.  It is so irritating when you find this stuff.    I would see if you could dremel it off.  That thing is in a seriously awkward position, it isn't going to be easy to fix that and definitely not comfortable.

funny thing is that has probably been like that for 30 years, you never know.

I just replaced my booster on my 79 big 10.  The bracket should look like this...



My opinion would be to go the salvage yard where millions of these trucks are and get a new pedal and bracket, etc.

i was able to take my buddys grinder and grind down the weld enough to get the rod off. i hooked everything back up and started bleeding the brakes and ran into more problems. both rear bleeder screws broke as well as the brake lines where they go into the backing plate. i kinda figured this would happen since they looked pretty crusty to begin with. so i started looking around at pre-bent rear brake lines in the   catalog. all of their rear brake lines show only for 2wd applications only not 4wd. but they have my rear end ( gm 14 bolt) listed for 2wd trucks. and in the picture it looks exactly like the ones i need. so my question is are the rear brake lines on a 2wd and 4wd with the same rear axle different? or can i order the 2wd ones and use them? i also checked out brothers chevy parts which is a company like   and they only have it listed for 2wd trucks also... here is the adrress where it shows a picture of it it looks like. For me, I wanted stainless steel lines.
I also needed every line for my Jimmy off a '87-91 since I am swapping over to TPI and couldn't find the lines in the salvage yard and couldn't find the special fittings.  So I bought the whole set for it for about $125.
