How do you determine gearing in your axle? And does anybody know what gear is in the 90s model trucks with the five speed?

The only real way to tell is to remove the meatball cover and either divide the numbers stamped on the ring gear or count the teeth.
example 11 pinion teeth 39 ring gear teeth
39 ÷ 11 = 3.55:1
