« on: October 19, 2007, 09:53:51 pm »
hey, im redoing my 82 chevy 4x4. it has a 87 tbi 350 in it but its on its last leg. so i figure that since im redoing the whole truck anyways i might as well get a new engine. so i was wondering if i should look to find a newer tbi 350 or swap in a tpi 350 out of a camaro? would it be work swapping it all over or should i just leave it tbi? thanks for the help and awesome sight guys

TPI can perfrom better but what are you using the truck for? You can get mild and streetable performance out of your TBI along with decent fuel economy. If it's a weekend warrior or tire frier seek out the TPI

Is it currently running the TBI?  If so you will have to change the feed/retrun lines to go to TPI along with the fuel pump(s).
If it already has TBI, the easiest solution is getting another motor and swapping it in.  Again, it depends on how much time you want to invest and what's you final application.

its my daily driver as of now but i want something with more power than what i have now. i need to replace my sending unit anyways since my bed is off so getting a new fuel pump wont be a problem. and while im doing that i can change out the fuel lines also.  yea its currently a tbi. will the performance increase of the tpi be noticeably more than a tbi? thanks for the help. im rly not in any hurry but hope to be done around the first of the year. also im doing all the work with my father and hes a mechanic so i have access to all the tools and equipment i would need to do the swap.
