Parts Washer Fluid??
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:58:32 pm »
I got a new parts washer for Christmas.  It's one of those 20 gallon ones with the pump that recirculates the fluid.  Can anyone recommend a good cleaner fluid to use in it?

Thanks,

T.J.

Kerosene is always a good cheap route....I think a step up from that is the stuff they sell at harbor freight? That stuff wouldn't be bad if Ur on a tight budgit

I was surprised to find out how well diesel fuel works as a cleaner. I wouldn't use it in the parts washer tho. You want a solvent that's non-flammable and safe to the environment like redneckchevy uses. Another one is Hurrisafe. Ya gotta be careful what you're breathing when you're cleanin.

I bought paint thinner because its non flammable but it stinks so bad I'm gonna change it. The 2000 stuff looks interesting.

Paint thinner is quite flammable..My dad and I have used a big steel oil pan full of flaming paint thinner to thaw the PTO/transmission in his tree trimming truck.
