If anyone has documents to buy at salvage auctions, My truck will be auctioned at; 21000 Hayden Drive....Woodhaven, Michigan 48183. Their name is copart. Their auctions are held every Tuesday at 12pm. Their phone number is; 1 - 734 - 365 - 0070...Fax #1 - 734 - 365 - 0080. Their website is.
http://www.copart.com
, just thought someone may be able to make it there. It is in lot#8962658. It won't be in the auction for April 1st. because I am not sending title to ins. company till I get my stuff out of it. Insurance company said that as soon as they get title, they overnight it to the auction house, and I am not returning title till after I get my stuff out on Tuesday. I am sure someone will fix her, and will probably get her for about 1500.00. I was thinking today, I was in 2 bad truck accidents in 10 years. In 1998 I was T-Boned by another pickup that ran a red light at 55mph in a 35 mph zone, He hit me in the pass. side "A" Pillar his truck got hung up in mine, and rammed me head on into a utility pole 100 feet away, I broke it off 35 ft. above the ground and had 4 - 4800 volt wires land on my fiberglass cap, I limped away. But, from being jerked out of the shoulder belt, my head hit the upraised padded dash that was pushed to the roof. No broken bones, no sever bleeding, no internal bleeding. Just big ole nasty bruise on chest where shoulder belt was, and one year after accident, I found out my spine is twisted in two places. And in Mich. no lawyer would take my case, because You can't sue for more than 150,000 at the time. And this all happened one block from home. That truck was a 1985 F-150. And now this wreck, yup I was wearing my belts again and only have a sore knee.. I have owned 5 full sized pickups in my lifetime, and only two of them have had a particular compass in them. It is going to stay with my old truck, let someone else find out if it is jinxed the next time around.

Pardon my ignorance, but i still don't get the $6000-$500 deal. Are they giving you $5500 for the truck?
i think $6000 to fix is a bit of a stretch. But if that is the cost of repairing the truck, then how much do you get?
i was out of town for the past two days, so it's probably too late now. Personally, i'm not happy with the situation, but it is your choice. i can understand about not wanting to fix it yourself due to health reasons; If i stay in one position too long(i.e., bent over a fender), my back gets stiff and then i can't really work for the rest of the day.
i think it would be better for you to get a newer truck with airbags.

The insurance company is sending me a check for $5500.00. $500.00 more than I paid for the truck in June of last year. And they keep the truck, as in my earlier post, it will be sold at an auto salvage auction. The insurance company said it will cost 6000.00 to fix it, the company said there are no parts available due to the age of the vehicle. But, I do not know where they got prices for non-existant parts.
. Will have to call appraiser and ask him. I am NOT trying to buy the truck back for various reasons. Will purchase S-10 from somewhere in Florida with money I get for my truck.

you have had some bad luck...but not too bad, you are alive. However, stay away from small vehicles. You want to remain protected with loads of metal.

I hope whoever buys your truck at that auction fixes it and then gets on here and lets us see, cause to smash that truck would be a sin that not even Jesus could save you from....I'm glad you are okay though, imagine if you where in a kia??

When I go to get the rest of my stuff out of my truck, I will leave a prepared note in the glove box, about this site, for the next owner........lol. I accidentally removed the owner's manual on my initial grab of important papers from the glovebox, will sell back to new owner
. Being that my career was as an autobody repairman, I have had many good results repairing crashed S-10's, The owner survival rate is at least 95%. Also, they are very easy to fix, (that's in my opinion). Also the used parts are very much so available, A good point! I did body and frame repair for 42 years, about the only thing I haven't done something on is a Ferrari F1.......lol. I have never worked on an S-10 that was involved in a high speed T-Bone (either side), those are the wrecks that never make it to the shops, I guess that accounts for the other 5%, of owner survivability. I will still come to this site as I will Mr. Bowtie's site. Also I have some extra parts that the previous owner so graciously gave me , when I bought my truck last year. I have brand new in the box, a mechanical fuel pump, a couple of sets of front disc pads (new in the box) a couple air filters (quadrajet size). Original wiper blades with worn out rubber, the metal part is dull gray or silver color. I have other odds n ends, and when I get to the yard where my truck is to get my stuff, I will remove the gold colored bowtie from the grille which I picked up from the accident scene, and bring that home also, it was not damaged, providing nobody is watching me, it is original white metal and in excellent shape. Just PM me if you need any of these parts. I don't know the brand name of any of these parts except the obvious Chevy ones. have other small stuff, but, brain is foggy this early in the a.m. I will have to look, but I think I have a complete pair of front Parking lamp assemblies, lenses included, a pair of headlight bezels (metal with some pitting), but re chromeable, these are for a 1978, no Incorporated parking light holes. Though I will still come to this site, I would like to thank all the wonderful, experienced, knowledgeable people who have ever provided, answered, or enjoyed the pics of my Detroit Iron, I THANK YOU ALL, VERY,VERY MUCH

I know how ya feel man! I miss my 87. i rolled it in July. that truck was worth $8500 easy and all i got for it was $1800, so you're coming out on top in that respect compared to how i got reamed by the insurance co, glad you're OK though, I also had to go to driving the focus until i got my new truck... the focus is OK, but i want my truck! sorry to see another classic goto salvage. You'll find another one though! I did and you will too! good luck man!
