flip kit?

when i first lowered my 82 stepside i went with 3" in front coil springs,  shackles and hangers in the back but my back still needs to come down some more maybe like 3" or more. would fliping the axle be too much in my case? and would i have to notch the frame? thanks

You won't have to notch the frame. if you put it back to stock and flip the axle you should be good. You can fine tune it with your shackles too to get it just right.

if you ever do a flip kit do a c noch its so much better that way your not riding on your pomp stops

Flipping your axle will get you the same drop as the axle and spring perch are tall.

i didn't keep any of the old shackles or hangers.  If i fliped the axle would the give me a grand total of 8'' of drop or something like that? has anybody dropped their truck that low and of course lowered their front to match? thanks guys

get the front spring hangers less work and should be less money then the flip kit

Mesure the thickness of your spring pack and move your add an inch and a half. That will be your drop.

Rick, As Vile said, the best thing is to use the stock hangers & the flip. With the lowering hangers, shackles & the flip you will be REAL deep into the frame & have a hard time doing anything in the front that would be drivable/steerable with normal size tires. On my original lowering deal, I moved the bed brace & let the frame come down until the shackle was allmost touching the bedfloor, it won't get you 3", but about 1 1/2" or 2", just a thought. At least you wouldn't have to go buy new stock shackles

I did the axle flip thing and then added shackles and hangers. Everything is from DJM except the  SSD notch kit, my home-made crossmember notch (which is nothing more than a piece of 2x2 welded to the cut up original), and home brewd shock mounts. DRIVEN DAILY

I recommend tuckin the exhaust up real good. Maybe even fab up a trans cross-member and run the exhaust over the top of it, not really necassary though, mines still stock. If ya got long tube headers, forget about it, there gonna drag.

I got my rearend flipped and what i did was cut off the bracket the bumpstops were attached to and bought some aftermarket stops that were shorter and I gained like 1 1/2 of more suspension play
