Motor cycle battery
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:48:24 pm »
I just bought a battery for my bike. $64.& change with shipping and handling. Last time I bought the same battery at the local Yamaha dealer three years ago it was $110.00. I called them yesterday and they wanted $124.00 for it! This is where I got it.

I bought an aftermarket battery for my Harley last year. I went to start my bike one day a few weeks ago and boom... the battery shorted. I got it warrantied and put a new one in. 3rd time I went to start it boom battery shorted again. I went to Harley and picked up a battery and no more problems. It was worth the extra $. I got the aftermarket battery warrantied again and will use it in my lawn mower but I will never run an aftermarket battery in my bike again. It couldn't handle the current draw from the starter and melted shorting the plates and then opening the circuit. If this happens you won't even be able to pop start yourr bike and you'll be stranded so be wary of what replacement batteries you buy.

Its the same brand YUASA as I bought from the Yamaha shop three years ago. I figure it lasted three years, can't expect much more from a bike battery. Especially one that I neglected to remove from the bike the last two winters! It cranked it for a little bit, jumped it, lasted a few days, but thats all she wrote.
Probably doesn't have the draw a big bike has either, its only a 225 enduro. Just figured I would post the site if anyone looking for an inexpensive battery. About half price for mine.
