1984 305v8 non california

How do use tell if you have a ECM? If I do, where is it located? Under dash drivers side or pass side. Can it be reset by removing the battery for 10 mins or what?  I have air leak between carb and intake manifold and I am sucking alot of air. The truck is idling really bad. I have got the new gasket and plan to put in this weekend.  I was wondering if I need to reset the ECM if I had one in this truck.  My service manual reprint (electrical diagrams) states that 1984 305 V8 has ECM? Could someone provide light on this subject or direct me to document to answer these questions. Thank.

If it is a non Cali truck it won't have an ECM.  It should have a ESC, but it has nothing to do with the idle.
Do you have wires going to the Carb?

If it has an M/C solenoid or ESC with California emissions it will have an ECM. Clearing adaptives can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds.
