Fender Emblem Installation?
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:22:32 pm »
My girlfriend bought me a set of fender emblems for my Custom Deluxe 10, but I'm not sure how they go on. The little stubs on the back fit into the holes, but there has to be something I'm missing. They're not snug, if I let go, they would fall right out. Are there supposed to be clips on the tabs once they go through the holes? If so, I can't get to the backside of the holes anyway... Thanks for any help.

Should be two of those little self threading nuts but you could get some 3M double sided tape, cause those nuts are a pain to get to.

So how do you get back there anyway? I tried under the hood and with the door open, neither were successful.

use the bullets then. they go into the hole in the fender and have two or more tangs that squeeze onto the emblem. Any decent auto parts store or body shop will have them in stock.

Generally you need to pull the fender off to get them on, unless you have really small and long arms.

Hey Vile, would you be able to find a picture of what you're talking about? I tried, but came up with nothing. I bought some double-sided tape before seeing your post, but I'd rather get what you're talking about then putting tape on my truck... Thanks.

Unofficial, In the bodyshop business, we call them barrel clips. Go to any autobody supply store (take your emblem with you) & ask for them. Most of the time you need to carefully make the pin diameter smaller on the emblem (if you don't want to drill on your fenders). I believe the ones you need are 1/4" outside diameter. The factory put them on with speed nuts before the fenders were installed. Lorne

I live close to an autozone, so I just ran in and asked if the guy knew what I was talking about. He just handed me a pack of nylon rivets. They were $3 so I just bought them and put the emblems on in the parking lot. It works fine, and I'm glad I won't be putting tape on my paintjob.

What did you do, push out the mandrel (center stud) & push the outside in the hole, then push in the emblem?

I got something like these, and then I took out the screw, pushed the skinny end in the holes in my fender, and pushed the emblem in. It was really hard to push in, so I'm not worried about them becoming loose.  ;D
