Bigger tires under stock truck question
«

Hello. I have a stock 86 Silverado 4x4 half-ton. My question is,what is the largest tire I can fit under this truck without beating my fenders in? Some people are telling me 32s and others are saying 33s will fit. What do you all think? I wont be offroading the truck. Just want it to look a little meaner without having to put a lift under it. Thanks.

I have heard of people running 33's but I haven't done it myself,I have run 32x10.5R15(BFG Mud terrains)on a 1/2 ton with stock suspension without any problems.
What brand of tires you are wanting to run?
You might be able to run 33's if they are not too wide.
Maybe a 33x10.5 or 33x9.5 if anyone makes them.

i am getting these for my project and i am putting 2.5 front and rear suspension lift but they told me that 33s would work if there is no off roading

I am currently running 33's on a stock 80 k10 truck. The key is if you have 15X8 wheels you are fine, but if you have 10 inch wheels then it will hit your fenders- different offset.
I am going to get either a 2 or maybe 4 inch lift in the future for offroading. I flexed it up a little and just barely rubbed the rr inner wheel

I have run 33x12.5x15s on 10" rims before on a 76 K 10. And also on a 78 K20 on camper special wheels. They were fine as long as it didn't go off road. But once they went off road a few times they were good there too!!!

I had 33s on my 83 3/4 ton and they were no where close to fitting, had to trim lots, just depends on how sacked your springs are I think. they were 33x12.5 bfgs on 9'' wide rims.

So,if I put add a leafs in,how many inches would that give me? Would I have to change anything like shocks, pitman arm or anything else? Also, does could someone post or send me a pic of their truck sporting 33s on a stock suspension or 33s with add a leafs? Thanks. P.S. A pic would be greatly appreciated!

My neighbor has an 86 3/4 ton...the version with the small lift from the factory I think (all I know is it sits higher than my 3/4 ton) Anyway, he put some 33 x 12.50 - 16 super swamper boggers on it. He had to cut the front fenders all the way back to the inner fenders behind the front tires and knock the lower corner off the fender in front of the front tires. Even after all that cutting they still rubbed off road. I put 285/75-16 mud kings on my truck....I think those are like 32x11 or something like that, and I could get them to rub once in a great while. I didn't trim my fenders at all and I had to be in a really bad spot and have the wheels turned just right to catch the back edge of the fender...I never rubbed it hard enough to cut a tire or mess up the fender.
So, based on my experience, I'd stick to 32's if you're not going to lift it, but that's me.

Across the board, 32x10.50's will work on stock trucks, both on and off road. 33's will "work" as long as you don't drive it offroad, EVER.
