4x4 Headers
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:37:19 pm »
Hi, I'm the new guy but not a kid.  (60 years old)  Which headers would you recommend for a stock '82 4x4, 350 4 speed stick?  It's a short wheelbase step side without air and no emissions to worry about.  Engine is completely stock for now.  It will be used for plowing my driveway and around town trips.  The "system" on the truck is shot so I might as well do it right the first time.  How are those cheapie systems from JC Whitney?

I bought a set of headman and hated them.  They didn't fit well and rusted out fast.  I have had really good luck with dynomax.  I have had 4 sets, 3 of which are still on my trucks but one set I sold to buy ceramic coated.  Not much of any more advice from me except stay away from Summit brand headers.  I think they might be made from holley.  My buddy was talked into them from summit and they hit the front leaf spring bolts, I have heard this has happened to many people.

The dynomax ones are nice but the ceramic coating doesn't hold up well. I've found the stainless cheap ebay ones hold up better.
