Leaded gas?
« on: November 27, 2008, 06:49:44 pm »
I recently got a new job at an aircraft maintenance shop and every once and a while we have to de-fuel the planes for maintenance, the gas is still fresh but we cant put it back in the planes. This is 100LL fuel and i was wondering if theres any problems with putting it in my 84. I have no emissions to pass or emissions left on the truck so should i use it or not. in a month we can usually fill a 45 gallon drum so thats why i wanna know.
thanks for any opinions.

You shouldn't have a problem. It might cause some deposits and catalytic converter contamination but it'll burn.

AV gas is a dryer type of gas, I'd put some two stroke oil or some marveal mystery oil in with it maybe one oz per gallon. I'll ask a friend about the correct doseage.
When I worked at Bombardier we always replaced the same fuel we took out of a plane.

Well that sounds great, when I pull my truck out in the spring I should be able to get some free gas. I dont know if its company policy or not that we dont re-use the fuel but if im able to use it then im alright with it.
