Need hitch ID help, any farmers out there???

OK,  I apologize in advance if my request sounds odd.  Is there a name for a farm type hitch that pulls out by releasing a pin and move a lever and it moves side to side?  See picture which is not real clear.

The picture that I'm understanding is after you back up to the trailer and your off by a couple inches then you remove the pin and slide the hitch over then you connect the trailer to the hitch and pull forward then you re insert then pin. or am i way off lol

I see a tongue and a reciever in the pic. the reciver is the square hole that would take a pinned insert with just about anything attached to it. The tongue is on top of the reciever in the pic and is attached to the bumper or possibly the frame (can't see the connection point) and looks unusable because it's proximity to the reciever would not let a pin fall through.

It's hard to see, but they could be welded together to create a swinging reciver hitch. If that is the case, then this is a custom unit and will not pass muster if your looking for a legal load rating.

The 2 inch receiver was welded as an after thought I guess.  I see them on farm trucks a lot just haven't stopped a farmer to ask what the proper name for the hitch was.  I would imagine that pulling 2-3 grain wagons it might make turning them more easy.  When I get the bed off I will take some more pictures of it.  The pin it locks into is over an inch thick.

I think what your looking for is called a shock bumper. It looks like a straight beam with a flat receiver sticking out to put a hitch pin in and yes they have a release to move from side to side. Check a farm implement store or a place that sells horse or livestock trailers.

I finally see what you are talking about. Alot of tractor implements just a have a coupling on them that a pin slips through on the draw bar which is similar in design to what your hitch is setup. The coupling on the implement will have two flat bars with the hole in the middle that your hitch slides into the middle of, and a simple pin holds them together,mostly found on the larger implements, ferterlizer tanks, bail wagons etc. I believe the fact that it swivels is just to aid in connecting them together, then they pull it straight, and back straight up to latch it. I have pulled many implements and dont see a benefit of having it sway back and forth. Does it latch in the side position, if so, that is to move the implent off the that side, to help keep it out of the road. Hopefully that helped.

It does not lock on the side.  I will just have to stop and ask next time I see a couple of them parked sitting jawing at the grain elevator.

I do believe you are right as well about the receiver hitch being added later, because it would interfere with the pin hitch. When its released, is it easy to push back in? Tractor implements are the only thing I can see it being used for, but am curious as to if it is used while extended, and allowed to swing, or just used to connect.

The way the grain wagons pivot I would think if it were to move side to side it may sway less and turns would be better being less sharp.  When I find out I will post.

The grain wagons are similar to the cotton trailers around here, and you dont want the tongue swinging back and forth, that could be exciting. Definately let us kno what you find, I am curious now.

just looks like a reese style hitch to me, when I worked at a farm it just made it easier to hook up to annhydrous tanks. You just back up close enough and pull the hitch out and move it left or right. when you get it hooked up you just back your truck up and it automatically locks.
