exhaust question.
« on: December 18, 2008, 09:27:16 pm »
my dad came up with something today. how well would having just high flow cats and no mufflers on my truck work. true duals headers and just cats. just an idea. what do yall think about the exhaust setup sold on here? like the mufflers he offers.

It would probably sound good.  I know with my 95 I had a straight pipe after the cat and stock tailpipe.  It sounded great but the locals hassled my 17 year old in town giving him a warning ticket.  Plenty of trucks louder around so as to not stir anything I put a muffler on it.

I never had a cat on my truck.  I drove around on open manifold one time. I couldn't stand it after a day.  After I installed headers, I had to drive across town to get exhaust work done.  It was a lot louder.  Much more fun to blow by people on the highway.  ;D

I have heard that it sounds pretty good, but cant verify that myself. I am a firm believer in an x pipe. I did drive my 68 bigblock El camino downtown one day. Was fun watching all the windows shake ;D

Muffler Delete=Problems with Neighbors X Trouble with Local Police/Etc= Nice Size Ticket and Other Unwanted Law Enforcement Attention :P

I haven't had a chance to buy anything from Chris(Capt Chaos) Site/Site Store Owner, but I do know he is a Stand up Guy, and the Majority of the Vendors I know the store has offers some quality parts(Have been Impressed with GoodMarks Quality Standards for their Body panels for years, and Pypes is one of the better larger Aftermarket Performance Exhaust Company)... So I definately plan on going through the Store when I can(It just may take me a while before I am able to do so)....

Chris has one of the Best Prices I have seen, when it comes to the Complete 2wd Systems the Store Displays on the site....

yea i know its a really good price. i kow it would sound really good with out the muffelers and just straight pipes but a lot of people already hate my in my neighborhood so i dont think they would be too happy with me driving through it at 1 in the morning. ;) i think i would get in too much trouble to do straight pipes as far as the loudness. i still have to do emissions so i have to have cats. so i think im going to get the loudest mufflers i can.  ;D  ;D any suggestions??

Dump the cats then.  Just run straight pipes of the headers.

Single chamber flowmasters will blow you away.  I took one off my race truck and put it on my wife's dually and it would literally shake the ground/house/everything.  You could here the truck coming from a mile away.  You could FEEL the exhaust with that muffler.  I recently changed the dually over to a dual chamber muffler and I can actually talk and listen to music just fine.  Now I don't hear my wife coming until she's a block away.
