ok yeah, I have the small metal part, but it has been "arched" somehow from the PO torquing too much or something.

I do NOT have that piece that appears to go inside the door itself. can you tell me a bit about that part or part set>? Im looking at my   mag now and I havent found it yet.

First off, look in the bottom of the inside of your doors. You just might find them there (sometimes the inside screw is not installed and when the mirror is removed the support falls down inside, and the person never takes the door panel off to see what the heck fell) I have. Second, Nothing from nothing, mounting the mirrors with even nuts/bolts/washers to just the door panel it will always flex because the door panel is too thin. Any insert put into the door skin will not let the mirror mount flush because the mirror mount is made to be flat to the door skin and by the very nature of inserts there is always an amount above the level of it's application.

The pieces on the back are the door braces.  It stabilizes the mirror.

I was feeling around inside the door, and did not find the piece. Chris, do you sell this/ have one of these laying around for the passenger door?

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I DID find the inner door part inside the door. Yesterday I dropped some screws down inside the door and whil lookenig with a light AND a mirror-on-a-stick, I saw the piece lodged under the window bump stop at the bottom of the door. it was stuck in there and took a good deal of wiggling to get it out.
So yeah, your suggestion from 20-odd posts ago was the answer.

so, just wanted to say thanks about that.
