Welcome from West Texas. I think you need a bigger hook.

Thats funny. There is a truck around my home town that does have a larger hook. Almost 3 times as big. Mine does well enough. Wonder what damage it will do when someone rear ends me!

can you tell me how you wired your fuel gauge and what does it take for the speedo(mechanical)
I have a 80 k10 shortbed
My truck originally came with dual tanks if that matters

Truck looks cool as well

I also have dual tanks. First what you need to do is purchase a fuel gauge that has the same ohms. Use this (http://pollak.thomasnet.com/Asset/IS-41_b.pdf) wiring diagram to wire it. The diagram came with the new valve (http://pollak.thomasnet.com/item/fuel-tank-selector-valves/3-port-motorized-valve/42-308?&seo=110) i purchased.

For the mech speedo, i just had a custom sized drive cable made. The shop had a chart that said what gear gives the speedo the correct reading with the larger tires.
