I was wondering what advantages/disadvantages a divorced transfer case had over a married unit?

Murray, Advantages:Transmission out-put shaft can be the same as other cars/truck & input of T-case doesn't have to match out-put of transmission, driveline (driveshafts) angles can be reduced due to mounting T-case lower, can fit under flatter floor.
Disadvantages: Extra driveshaft/U-joints to wear out or break, extra mounting brackets/crossmembers needed (all add extra weight), T-cases seem to shake/move around under power. I'm sure there are some more to add, that's all I can think of for now. Lorne

Haulin it beat me to it.
Advantages:
The divorced t-case set up will let you run safe driveshaft angles if you run a large lift like the 12" my truck has. The gained floor clearance should let you use a 2 W.D. cab without a body lift if needed . This set up also lets you use a 2 W.D. tranny which may be cheaper to buy.
Disadvantages:
Cost. You will need a new trans, t-case, 3 new driveshafts, and crossmember modifications (one for the trans and one for the t-case).
What is the reason for installing this set up in your truck? I see in your post in the suspension section you are installing a 4" lift. I think all of this work would be overkill for a 4" lift.
If you need more pics let me know.

Advantage: gets rid of the 10 spline coupler that is notorisous for breaking in rock climbing, and also you can mount it so that the front output is up higher by rotating it. in turn having much better ground clearence
