New here
« on: January 23, 2009, 12:43:47 am »
Hey all, my name is Jake and I'm from Garner NC. I moved here a few years ago and been into cars, trucks, and motorcycles my whole life. I'm 24 and I'm going to school to become a cop. I'm into old vehicles because I just find the reliable and easier to fix than newer stuff, not that newer vehicles don't have thier charm. I just bought a 84 GMC Sierra. It has a 305, TH700r4, 3.42 open rear. It has 115k on the clock, the tranny was rebuilt last year, the paint is a few years old. She starts right up, and runs great. The only real issues with her is she got smacked in the drivers side rear bumper and pushed the 1/4 panel out and the interior is trashed. I bought her to haul stuff and to run back and forth when the weather won't allow me to take my bike. My main plans is to fix the interior, paint the wheels, and just make her look nice. Interior wise the seat is tore up, the dash pad is in poor shape, carpet is ripped up, and the door panels are pretty messed up too. Heres some pics of the outside

Heres my other ride and why I need the truck. Its a 72 Oldsmobile 442, she a Rocket 350, TH350 tranny, and factory 3.73 posi rear. I bought her in 03 after I graduated highschool, I saved up for years to buy something like this. I drove her daily till last summer when I blew the tranny impressing a girl that I will be marrying when we get done school, so it was kinda worth it. I have done alot of work, like headers, full exhuast, shift kit, factory stye ram air hood. I've done all the work to her, I built up the orginal motor and blew it up street racing and built another more while I rebuilt the original motor into a serious street engine. I have her mostly apart while I replace the whole suspension, rebuilt the tranny, and add some "tweeks" to the engine. I'm retiring her from street duty even though I still plan to drive her as often as possible, whats the point of doing all this work if your just going to let it sit in a garage. Heres a couple pics of what she looked like and what she looks like now. Right she she just has frame rails there now that the A arms are off and everything, I really need to update my albums

Welcome from New Hampshaa. I have always loved the late 60s early 70s Cutlas body.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
