To improve America, people must individually see what he/she can do.  That means, even offending some reading this, buying American autos.  But you say, "well, jap cars are made in TN, AL..." That is not what I mean, where does the profit go?  Or you may say, "50% of American car parts are made overseas".   I don't care, by buying any of Detroit's big 3 keeps jobs here and decreases our borrowed tax money (that our children will have to pay) from being wasted.  Buy American!

I grew up in the 70's.  I remember when Datsun became popular.  People were mad at neighbors for buying Jap cars.  Remember, WW2 was only one generation removed.  Remember Pearl Harbor?

I have never bought a foreign car.  I never will.  We have just fine products here in our country.

As a kid I remember us kids playing in the neighborhood.  We'd all take sides on what kind of vehicles we like, usually based upond what our parents had.  Pontiac, Chevy, Ford, Dodge.  There were no Nissans, Toyotas, Lexus in the picture.  The title of this thread, "Are there any People that care in this country anymore?"  is fitting.  The answer is no.  People are too individualistic.  They care only about their bottom dollar (or impression thereof)--not caring about their children and grandchildren having to suffer the consequences.

America used to be the envy of the World.  But, because we have more money going to other countries now, they are becoming rich and we are decreasing our own standard of living, because of foreign TV's and foreign cars, and foreign clothes---all our money that we made in the 50-, 60's, 70's have gone to other countries because of the present-day's individualism.  Not caring about the future of our country, but, caring what is in our driveway now--at the present.

I am guilty of it as well, I can't find an American TV.  Where are the Zeniths?  Was that American?  I don't even know.  But, I draw the line on vehicles.  For every foreign car bought in America, another American loses his/her job.   That is motivation enough for me to keep my money right here in America.

And yes, I buy Levi's.  Where are they made now?  In Mexico.  The cost of salaries down there is so much cheaper.  Why did this happen?  Because there is no Tariffs on imports.  No tariffs on imports.  Do you know what that means?  Our standard of living will decrease to that of Mexicans and Chinese and Taiwan.  Our standard of living is history now, thanks to cheaper products coming in made by sweat shops and juveniles....but, hey that is capitalism right?  Bring back Tariffs on imports.  It will cause WW3, but so what, we currently have the best military around.  Tomorrow we won't.  Do it now!!  We can't do it tomorrow.

Of coarse people don't care. IIRC about 34% of all americans vote every 4 years for a president.  34%, that means the minority controls this country no matter who gets voted in...If it is 34% and say the election was almost tied, that would mean 17% of the people run things, over the other83%  of which 66% of the total don't care enough to even speak up.  If it's split 3 or 4 ways, it would mean way less than 17% RUN THINGS WITH THE VOTE.   Assuming the US pop. is 360,000,000  and my math is correct, this means out of 360M people, 237.6M people didn't do crap.  This country is turning to nothing but whiners who won't even vote but they'll sure complain all the time.  Here's what the 20% or so have decided for the rest of us:

OBAMA'S THREE WEEK REPORT CARD

It is hard to imagine that one man could do so much in so little time, but here goes . . .are ya ready for this? It's only been three weeks:

1) Admits to having family members who are muslim, something he avoided like the plague during the election. Gee, wonder why?

2) Ordered Guantanamo closed.

3) Ordered all military tribunals to STOP.

4) DISMISSED charges against the mastermind of the USS Cole attack, which killed 17 American Sailors.

5) Moved the Census Bureau out of the Commerce Dept and INTO the White House. This is HUGE.

6) Signed an executive order repealing a prior ban on YOU paying for abortions abroad.

7) Negotiating with Russia to reduce our nuclear arsenal. You know, ours...the one that has caused so many accidents and deaths?

8) Allowed Tim Geithner to be confirmed as Treasury Secretary, even though he clearly is a tax cheat.

9) Had several other nominees withdraw their names due to TAX PROBLEMS.

10) Promised to hire no lobbyists, then hired a couple.

11) Hires G.E.'s CEO to his economic advisory board . . . is this even legal? I know it is unethical, but somebody needs to go to prison over THIS--GE stock! Somebody bet me $1000 that GE stock doesn't DOUBLE in the next 12 months. This is candy from a baby. Buy GE stock. They are in bed with Barack!!!

12) Nixed a coal plant that was planned for North Dakota.

13) Apologized---APOLOGIZED---for DEA busts in California. He promised in his campaign to lighten up on illegal grow operations, as he thinks it is a waste of resources. What does he propose? Having these DEA agents build roads? It's hard to tell your kids that illegal drugs are bad when the President APOLOGIZES for busting the people who are responsible for growing/manufacturing them.

14) Helped push through the largest spending bill in US History, even as he criticizes the Bush Administration for "getting us in this mess" by running up a deficit. Makes perfect sense. When you can't pay your bills, you always go out and spend MORE, don't you???

15) Promotes unions and "card check" legislation which will only cost us millions and millions of more jobs.

One more I had to add, Obama has shuned the medal of honor recipients.  The annual ball held to honor the medal of honor recipeints was skipped by obama, in war-time, being the first president to miss it since it's inception.  hey man, the president doesn't give a crap, so why should I, right??  not me, but apparently the vast majority thinks this way, at least 237M out of 360M people.

THREE WEEKS. It's only been THREE weeks. We have FOUR YEARS of this to come.

I stated my thoughts on imports, and never buying even a used import.  buying a used import is no better than buying a new import simply because, if the market for used imports isn't there people wont buy nearly as many new ones because they won't hold their value well enough to be a good buy anymore.  I check the boxes of the stuff i buy and if i can posssibly get US made, I do.  people say you can always get import stuff cheaper than US made stuff, not so, check out some of the store brands at the grocery stores, a lot of the time it's US made and way cheaper than the brand name stuff.

You forgot a couple.

Is thinking of repealing the ban on photoing our Brave Soldiers/Sailors coffins

Has ordered all Americans to conserve energy by turning down their thermostats but the White House is set to a Balmy 78 degree's

Ready to talk with Iran (which I still dont understand isnt all "Glass" yet)

Thrown his VP Biden under a bus .

This country is in serious trouble I dont think it would matter if McCain got elected.

We need a serious third party. I hate to say this but we all need to come together like we did on 9/11 in order to right our ship.

You would have thought the GOP could have found somebody a little more "presidential" than Sen. McCain to run against Obama..Not that I take anything away from his heroism and service in the military and senate-but he just didn't have much chance to be president. The Liberals ran over him and we're in a mess for a long haul. It was a well known fact that Obama had the most liberal voting record in the senate. We are now very close to being a socialist country.

I think many people don't vote because all the candidates always suck.  Everybodys tired of voting for the lesser of 2 or 3 evils....   The first thing to do toward making things better is getting rid of all the current partys in general which won't happen.  George washington warned about forming political parties for this very reason and what happened?  before george washingtons time was up john adams and thomas jefferson had already formed opposing political parties.  Candidates suck because there's always only 2 candidates.  there are other parties besides rep and dem but lets get real, none of them will win.  I'd also love it if somehow lobbying was made illegal, punishable by death.   The big issues themselves should be put to the vote by the people.  Why should we only get to vote on which idiot is going to screw us.  The iraq war...  put it to a vote , gay marriage, abortion, foreign aid,  RAISES FOR SENATORS, etc,  capitol punishment, immigration, zero tolerance laws, etc put it to a vote on a ballot for every us citizen.  <- if this is not done, you will just have to do what the lobbyists want you to do, like you do now.

I'm liking this, it may not make a difference, but I hope it goes all the way in at least 38 states.... ;D
