Cab Mounting

Front cab mount (On the Blazer) how do you guys deal with the nut/threads inside the cab mount ? I was thinking (I know that is my problem) of cutting a piece of the floor out across the mount so I could get a socket in there then can screw the piece I took out in there.

Is it spinning on you? If so, yes, cut a hole so you can get at it. It isn't a nut that you put a socket on...it's square in a cage, what happens is as you turn the bolt, the corners spread the cage (if it's frozen) & allow the square to spin. Most of the time once you cut a hole, heat the square with a torch & it should come free. You may need to use a pry bar or vice grips to hold it from the top. Good Luck, Lorne

Lorne its not spinning its the new one , the new one didnt come with the piece inside. the one in the old mount is in pretty bad shape so I dont want to use that..

Oh Ok, Yea, the new ones don't come with them. You have a few options...My first thought would be use the original square (get one from another truck or make one) Take some 1/8" angle iron & make a new cage. Or maybe a regular nut & large, heavy washer & use a hole saw to make the hole in the floor & get a plastic body plug to fill it. Have Fun, Lorne

I had one that came loose, I just weled it back in place.

I have welded the original square one back in. I have also just welded a washer and nut together, then welded them into the new part.
