Bad sellers
« on: February 21, 2009, 05:20:03 pm »
 Chris,
How about a section on bad sellers, folks that say they are going to ship items and don't follow through. You know the kind that are here everyday and don't answer there messages or email.

And how about ya make it mandatory for new guys to completely fill out there profile before they can  post.

We need a member discussion section also.

I have been trying to figure that out how to force that but there is no easy way...

I will probably start forcing all Classified ads to have an actual phone number listed in them.
Was this a site supporter?

As for members discussion, do you mean site supporter?  I really don't want to have a seperate forum that will be talking about trucks just among site supporters if that is what you mean.

You could probly cut down on this by making everyone have to use paypal, cause if the seller does not ship then paypal will refund the money. I just had to do this a few months ago over a $250 computer motherboard on ebay. They plucked the money right out of his account and put it back into mine  ;)

I probably miss out on sales by not putting my phone # on anything but once it is out there, look out, anyone can bother you.  I probably check my email too many times a day.  I have over 20 active ads on Craigslist, Used Car Tools and other truck forums.  I have had great results but follow through is a must.  Selling on Ebay gives you a rating but when a person starts out you are taking a chance.  When I attempt to do business with a newbie I ask questions via email.  If I get timely responses back and all the questions answered I will take a chance but then use PayPal because you have that out.  Maybe I have been extremely lucky or more likely just overcautious but knock on wood over several hundred, probably nearing 1000 transactions probably equal in buying and selling, I have never gotten the shaft.  PayPal is great if you understand how it works to protect both the buyer and seller.  Yes it is costly for a seller to accept but well worth the money as I think of it as an insurance policy as an individual seller.  You also have to know all the scams as there are clever ones out there with PayPal.  I had one instance that I sold an auction but had no responce from the winning bidder, like he fell off the face of the earth.  3 weeks after I re-listed, sold it and shipped it and left negative feedback he contacted me to say he was sorry for not getting back to me sooner.  The story was that he entered a bid early on my auction and before it ended landed in the hospital with a heart attack following a 5 way bypass.  Of course I felt bad for the guy and amended my negative feedback.  My $.02 on the subject, but sorry to hear your misfortune.

Just found out something i didn't know about paypal though. You are covered by them... AS LONG AS you notify them within 45 days. After that you are on your own. Dont let some one say "its lost in the mail", or "just wait a little longer... blah blah blah excuse excuse excuse"... jump on it asap.
