UPDATE:

1) Federal-Mogul gone.

2) American Axle in serious trouble;  They are the main supplier to GM.   i though GM made their own differential units?

Dang federal mogul, I buy my day-to-day parts from their brand and always fel-pro gaskets.

I don't know about the lighter duty axles but the AAM 11.5 and now a 12.5 are in their 3/4 and one ton trucks.  they replaced the 14 bolt FF's.

All big businesses (especially automotive related) are in a perfect situation to cry broke and look for government bail outs. It's pathetic that our government causes more problems than it solves. This whole recession thing has caused me to stop watching the news at night.

I for the most part can't watch the news, more of it is bad than good so all it does it make me mad enough to not sleep good.  I know it's getting worse day by day so I have no need for news.  The worst stuff will show up on my homepage so other than that, I'm out.

1) i'm not happy about the federal-mogul situation.

2)i don't like watching the news either;  i think you can get better and possibly more accurate info from smaller time/start up (no advertisers yet) podcasts.

CANCEL THE FEDERAL MOGUL NEWS, I APOLOGIZE (i think?)

Ok, i just went to the fed-mogul website and it's up and healthy and their stock is still trading stabilly at around $4.

So, speaking of news, maybe we should not listen to any of it;  i heard that federal mogul went out of business on the CAR AND DRIVER podcast---shame on them.  They also tried to say that pontiac was going out of business, but one of the hosts contradicted the other.

NOTICE:

i will not post any future statements concerning companies and/or the economy unless i have confirmed them from at least three independant sources.  By independent, i mean, for example, a lot of the major newspapers are actually owned by the same parent company and also i think FOX news owns several newspapaers and/or magazines.  This means that if two related forms of media state the same thing it could mean that both are false because both sources are getting their info from the same place.

If three or more unrelated/independant sources are saying the same thing, then this would more likely mean that the info is more likely to be correct because each source(hopefully) did their own research.

i apologize for any inconvienience, depression, worry, anger, and in some possible cases, pre-mature joy i may have caused.

2) i can however still confirm that American Axle is still in some serious trouble.

3) i can't further comment on the CAR and DRIVER podcast because i only listened to a few episodes at work when there was nothing else to do.

RE: Sealed Power:

The only reason i'm bringing this up is i just bought a new pushrod from advance (pls see my other posts) and it was a sealed power one----i got it for $1.49.

So i go on the net because now i'm curious about Sealed Power---the quality etc.  And i read on a recent newscast that they are finished.

Do you know anything about this?   They are/were? owned by Federal Mogul.

That's too bad.  They made some nice replacement engine parts - everthing from pistons to complete rebuild kits.  The quality is good, based on what I've heard about them.  If people would refuse to buy the cheap Chinese crap flooding the automotive aftermarket, companies like Sealed Power wouldn't have to shut down; but alas Americans are addicted to cheap crap.

Yeah, the quality is pretty good as i have read.

However, since i have not confirmed this with at least 2 other independant sources, i think we should, for now, assume that Sealed Power is still in business.
