Lowering my '79 C10????
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:10:20 am »
Guys I'm looking to lower my '79 C10 a little before long and I was gonna see what you guys have done. I really dont want to do a flip kit cause I dont want to go that low. I guess I'm really looking to get around a 2/3 drop. What's the best way I can go about that without breaking the bank. Also a friend of mine said when he did his years ago that he had to shorten the yoke that goes in the transmission a half inch? Anyone else had to do this? All the info you guys can give me will be great. Thanks.

Justin, Lowering shackles in the rear will get you where you want to be & they are a very cost effective way to go about it. Your driveshaft length will be fine, unless it was borderline too long for some reason prior to the shackle install. Lorne

Justin,
Take a look at this post from a few years back titled "lowering for free".  We discussed cutting coils and lowering shackles and a couple of other old-school techniques.  You might find the information useful or at the very least, interesting.

That's a pretty good thread. I'm thinking I'll be definetly cutting one full coil. Thanks for the info. Where is the best place to get lowering shackles at a decent price? Thanks guys.....
