1986 K10 daily driver project. pics inside
« on: March 27, 2009, 12:46:26 pm »
Hi all. New to here so I wanted to post some photos of my new project. I purchased this a couple of weeks ago for $1500. The kid just put 32/11.5/15 Cooper STTs on it. He paid $875 for the tires then paid $240. to have it registered. He couldn't get it to pass smog. The next day I took it to my shop, it passed smog with no issues, I was relieved. I plan on having it painted and interior done in 3 months while I drive it every day. I went from a 2003 silverado to this, so interior upgrades are a must. I have so far installed headers, new exhaust 3" to the back. Stripped the interior and started the insulation process. I also have the steering gear repair plates and a ORD brace that goes to the front crossmember for more support. I plan on running 35-37" tires, installing a ORD shackle flip kit on the rear. Tan, black interior and repainting it the same color, minus the two-tone. Tell me what you all think!

I like it. You gonna pull the seat out and do the whole floor, or just the front?

Im going to finish the floor when I get the jute padding and carpet. I am also going to rubber undercoat the doors. I have a new drivers door and power window kit that I bought for $50. 6x9's in the doors, 10 in the rear and new speakers on the top of the dash. Its amazing how many parts are available for these trucks. I used to build/race VWs so parts for those were more expensive. I am looking for a brown dash pad that will cost less than $279. Are the $99. caps from   a good fit. I am afraid it will bulk up the dash and look ugly. I have yet to see one installed

very nice. im jealous  ;D  alot better than the truck i got for $1300. lol  i know of the fit over dash pads you are talking about. I read a magazine article a while back where they said they were very satisfied with it. cant tell you myself though. my truck came with a brand new dash pad so im just going to dye it tan for my new interior. cant wait to see your new interior to give me ideas.

Nice truck! My 85 came with a dash cap. It is all cracked up and also covers up some of the screws that hold the dash pad on. I wouldn't use them IMO. I would opt for a new or a good used one.
