My 84 K10

Hey guys,   

I want to show my 84 K10. I bought this truck about a year ago at a great price. I bought the truck 100% stock. I mean 100%. Nothing was ever changed. Even had Factory Radio. Factory engine, Tranny I mean everything. Factory A/C still worked the whole nine yards. Only had two owners. I got a great truck at a great price.  This truck is the OFF Road Edtion and came with everything from cruise control to power locks and air ride.  I have been working on it with what time I have and have made some changes.  I had an 87 Ext Cab S10 that I was working on for a few years that I had just had to scrap because I blew the floor out of it. Long story but let just say I was lucky to walk away with-out being hurt.  I pulled the stock 305 out of the truck and replaced with the 350 I had built in my S10. Then had my tranny guy build me a new 700r4. I then replaced rhe stock 3.08 gears with 4.56's. Then My wife was good enough to buy me new rubber and rims. Nice stuff. I then upgraded the Rad and such and upgraded the A/C. I ripped both gas tanks out and went with an in-bed tank. I also raised the truck using srings fromt he S10. Yeah really I did. I raised the truck using only parts from the S10. I just took the biggest and longest springs and added it them to this truck and it raised it 6 inches front and rear.  I have replaced all the rubber around all the windows.  I have done allot and have a long ways to go. I am ready to start body work. I will post more when I get a chance.  I will post a question asking for help in another section in a min. I am having a real probelm with brakes. Need help figureing why It is pulling to one side so bad after replacing everything.

Nice truck. As far as pulling to one side, did you change the steering arm when you lifted it? If not you are going to need to replace it with a raised arm to accommodate the lift.

Nice truck. As far as pulling to one side, did you change the steering arm when you lifted it? If not you are going to need to replace it with a raised arm to accommodate the lift.

  Will that cause it it pull when applying the brakes?  I did not change it and no idea I should.   The front end is driving me crazy.  When I got the truck the front end was perfect. No pull no shake nothing. I raised it and all heck broke lose. I used no blocks only springs. I added one spring to each side to lift it 6 inches. Then the pulling started. I replaced the Brake lines because of course after lifting it they were to short. I replaced the rotors, calipers and pads aswell. All dont at the same time same day. The pulling wont go away.  I then replaced all four shocks up front and replaced both tie rods and the adjusting arm. Still wont stop.  Whats worse is if I load the bed with weight you can hardly drive it without crapping your pants it pulls so bad.   I did a little test a few mins ago and took it out for a ride. As soon as I pulled in the driveway i checked the temp of the pads and rotor. Big difference. Driver side was about 100degrees hotter than passenger.  And it pulls to the driver side. So I am thinking the pads are sticking?  Thoughts?  Never thought the steering arm should be replaced.

Defiantly change the steering arm, My bet is that fixes the whole thing. Be prepared they are a bear to change we have had a few topics on this just search and you'll find some tricks to help ya.

My 84 silverado had the same problem it pulled like crazy to the right. Figured out it was my caliper and pads sticking replaced both and no more pulling drives strait as an arow

  Ok thanks for the help. I just priced it at $92.  I guess I will get it. I hope it fixes things.     I can handle changing it no problem.   I want to clean the truck up a bit before taking some pics of it since I made those changes. But I just thougt of a few things I could add. I did replace the colum shift with a floor shift.  I pulled the bench seat out and replaced with bucket seats but my wife hated it so a had to change it back. Added a hitch to the front. Mounted an air tank and compresser under bed where one of the tanks were.   I think i might just take pics of it dirty and post.  Be back in a bit.

  Did it only pull when applying the brakes?   Mine takes control of the truck. Funny thing is it wont do it everytime. Seems to do it more when i am moving a bit quicker. It pulls so hard and seems like the steering wheel dont move.    This is the first 4x4 I ever owned.  Do you guys have a problem turning corners?  I need a mile to turn a corner. Drive thru at Buger King? Not happeing. I cant make the turns.

You can double check the brakes but change the steering arm first trust me you'll see the difference.   You know bro the funny thing is bumps are not an issue. It rides so smooth. Bumps are nothing and if you let go of the wheel it drives striaght. Only pulls when applying the brakes.   Never any issue on bumps.    I am trying to find the right steering arm right now.  I see things like must be open knuckle axle and things like that. Trying to figure out which one i need.

   Same arm you got?  Considering we have the same truck I will order this one.
