I agree Chop, that is exaclty my intentions. If it runs, great, if it needs freshened up, as long within tolerance, get a set of rings, bearing and gaskets, and a standard valve job and let it go. I do have a 350 but in needs a full rebuild. I don't really want to waste it on the 80 GMC junker clunker though. So hopefully this 305 does run good. And again, I may just keep my eyes open for a used good running Olds 350. Those ought to be cheap I would think, just so long as it does not need a rebuild. Never know what will happen til I start taking stuff apart. First I got to get the trans kit in to fininsh my T400 rebuild for the 3/4 ton. I have waited to get the good parts for it, like a 34 element sprag. The trans that came out of it, was terrible. Burnt bad, and the intemediate clutch pack was destroyed when the roller sprag came apart. I bough a 69 T400 trans for donor parts. It has the good sprag drum in it and some other things I am going to use from it. The trans was only $50 and that drum alone is $155 on eBay. So I got off cheap to have the best on that deal too. And I may end up selling that trans case. The #'s on it come back to a 69 Chevelle SS 396. Someone wanting to put together a # mathching car, maybe interested in the case.
