Swapping 1986 Suburban Steering Column into a 1975 Jimmy?
The turn signal assembly in the column where the blinker handle connects has worn out and needs to be replaced, no problem, done this a couple of times.
Last summer I bought a 1986 Suburban for the Big Block 454 motor and as a bonus this Suburban had a tilt steering wheel column and also operational cruise control. I used the cruise control for about a month as I drove the Suburban around and it seem to work just fine as did the blinkers.
So instead of fixing the wiring in the steering column on the Jimmy I was thinking about pushing the steering column swap forward. I still have the Suburban completely intact except the engine.
There's a little slop in the Suburban steering column, it's at the top of the column, where it flexes. Not sure if this is just a loose nut or worn bearing or both?
Anyway, going outside to remove the lower cover of the steering column under the dash to look at the wires but thought I would post this and see if anyone's been there and done this before?
