87 3/4 Ton.
« on: April 13, 2009, 12:50:34 pm »
Here's a link to some pics of an old 3/4 tonner my son and I are fixing up. Got a ways to go but it's coming along. It's at the exhaust shop  having  duals and Flowmasters put on it right now. It has a little tranny leak needing repaired then all little details that my boy can do himself (undercoating, interior, etc). Not a bad truck for a 16 year old though.

Thanks guys! Got it back from exhaust shop today, the bone heads ran 2" pipe all the way :-\. I'm not at all happy but I'm not one to complain. Any good reason to make them change it? I supplied the Flowmasters( 3" I believe). Will this hurt anything other than being kinda ugly? I'll post some pics tomorrow. And some pics of the truck without dust and dirt all over it. Did turn a bunch of heads on the way to and from exhaust shop today though ;D

Id make em change it. If you spec'd larger, they need to install larger. I dont like 2 inch because it makes the popping sound out of the exhaust. I hate that sound. I like a deep rumble

Yeah me too. But.... I run a collision shop in a small town and really don't want the guys at the exhaust shop running me down so..... I think I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what we can work out. It does look goofy though and you cant really hear it like I want to,but a 16 year old driving a truck like that probably doesn't need any more attention from the local lawmen.

Sweet! Wish I had a truck like that in high school. lol Where did you get the rear bumper? I've been looking for them and they seem to be hard to find around here.

The bumper came with the truck. It was used as a pulling truck. That bumper says it is rated for 10000lbs. It weighs like 150 lbs. I searched the web trying to find one with no luck. I forgot to look at the bumper itself to see who made it, i'll check tomorrow and let you know.
I did wash it up real nice tonight, it looks great.
I'm going to rhino line the bed and inside the cab in a few weeks.
I did buy some buckets and console from a 2002 silverado but it looks like I may have to lower the floor to make them fit. Anyone have any ideas on how to make those seats work without cutting and lowering the floor?
If not will seats from a newer (05) Dodge work easier (they look like they will)? I just hate to put a bench seat in it, the boy doesn't need his girl all hugged up with him while he's driving.

Sounds like a DMI bumper if its made for pulling. Those are some very expensive ones.  I thought it looked like just a normal drop bumper but you got a good one though. lol. Looks great!
