V10, V20, V30
« on: April 17, 2009, 10:07:56 am »
Maybe this is a dumb question, but what the heck does the V-series mean?

Seems like the V's are always 4x4s, so how is a V10 different from a K10, a V20 from a K20, etc...?

When GM changed body styles in 1988 the K of old became the the V because the (81-87) body style was carried to 1991 with the Suburban, Blazers and Crew Cabs.  The 1988 new body style became the C/K series at that point.

I believe the R/V designation (R for 2wd and V for 4wd) actually began with the 1987 models, rather than 1988.

Got2haul is correct, R/V started in 1987 in preperation for the new bodystyle trucks for 1988 which were C/K.
