Factory tach swap?
« on: April 23, 2009, 08:22:42 pm »
I have an 87 c10, and somehow I inherited a factory tach dash from some other model year. How much of a wiring nightmare is it going to be to swap it over? Are there available wiring diagrams?

What year is the cluster out of?  If it is anything other than a 78-up it won't work, plus you HAVE to keep your speedo and the font wont match.
All the wiring schematics are in the Tech forum, you will have to repin everything to make it work.

73-75 has an amp gauge (never plug one into anything but a 73-75)
76-77 has a volt gauge with mechanical oil
78-up has all electronic gauges
