Problem with steering

Hi all,
My Blazer has a steering problem. Sometimes it is ok , but at other times the power steering binds up and the truck will shift to the left or right when driving at slow speeds. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this something in the gearbox? thinking of getting a used one if that is the case. thanks,

First thing to check would be the front axle u-joints.  If they bind up that will cause what you are describing.

Ditto with zieg85. I put money on it you have a axle joint that is frozen up.

also as an afterthought is the power steering belt OK and not worn out and loose?

I would say a loose belt would just make it hard to steer. If it is trying to steer on its one when you are rolling in a turn, which is what I get from your " shift to the left or right " statement. Jack up both sides of the front end, leave the key in the run position, kneel at the tires and turn them all the way to the left or right. Spin the tire slowly while keeping a little grip on the tire. If it tries to steer itself / pull or push the tire around from it rotating you have a stuck axle joint.
