87 with a 3 on the tree ?

Well I have been looking on craiglist for a truck and found a 1987 shortbed with a v6 3 on the tree.
I thought that they discontinued those in the early 80's. Is this original for a 87 Chevy?

I have an 87 with a V6 and column shift...it is all original.  It had manual steering and brakes but has been upgraded to power.  The V6 is very peppy.

Wish I could find a replacement column for my 86.  Mine is manual everything and that is the way I want to keep it.
