i have noticed online that alot of 4x4's have removed the front sway bar. especially a awesome truck like this one http://www.off-roadweb.com/features/0701or_1984_chevy_shortbed/index.html. unbelievable. the sway bar is the only part of my suspension that i have nit replaced or addressed. im thinking about removing it completely. any thoughts?

Is it going to spend more time on the road or off the road?   If it is ON, leave it.  the only benefit of removing it is for flexing offroad.

Even if you do alot of wheeling, if it is driven on road at all, get a quick disconnect kit.
