Hydrants can be any color you want, Ive seen blue and yellow even... Its the color of the cap on top and the outlets that matters.
The cap color indicated the available pressure for that hydrant in the pipeline.
Had to have that all memorized for my firefighter 1 section 1 exam lol. 9 color choices.
Now hopefully next saturday when the test is all over Ill be fully certified Firefighter 1.

good luck Jay, but, I beleive that is a state-by-state thing (or in your case, a Country thing). All hydrants around here, top, bottom, side, are all silver. Or, my county decided to only have one pressure, therefore one color. I dunno. But I think that is a state thing, all surrounding counties and city of richmond don't have different color caps

around here they are all red if there not hooked up they have to be a diffrent color. but i guess that just like the 10 code 10-17 here means meal stop, during 9-11 that cause some bit of confusion

Virginia's governor wanted to do the common language thing back in 2006 so other jurisdictions will know what we are saying. for us oldtimers, it's hard to change old ways. Bottom line, we still use 10-codes.

This didn't last too long. well, except for the new guys who never learned these codes.

Here in some areas of Southern Middle Tennessee they have done away with 10 codes and just went to " "plain talk"

Then you have the old 10 codes, the new revised 10 codes and here in quebec you have the french 10 codes. We have a few that we use regulary, 10-4, 10-10 and 10-14 but most of the time we use plain language to cover the gap between french and english since out of 10 departments in our mutual aid we have like 3.5 that are english.
