« on: June 21, 2009, 10:21:38 pm »
i have a 74 chevy 3/4 ton that has a great condition body, its 2wd but i wana convert to 4wd and i recently found a 72 3/4 4x4 chassis complete with everything from the engine to the wheels for dirt cheap, im new to these trucks and im wondering if i can put my 74 cab/bed/front clip on a 72 frame? thanks

I believe there is a difference in wheelbase of 72 having 127" while the 73 on up has 133".

This is correct. You will have NO gap between the bed/cab & the back wheels won't be centered in the wheelwell, rad. support bushing mount area is different. If you swap the other way (old body on to new frame) you end up with a BIG gap. Unless ofcorse you move the bed mounting holes & move the spring hangers on the frame...not really worth it. Lorne
