Rear Sliding Window Rattle. Make it Stop
« on: June 30, 2009, 08:26:02 am »
Now that I can actually drive my truck around (not that I actually would ever leave the compound) the rear slider just rattles to the point that I'm reaching back ever 3 or 4 bumps to make it stop rattling. Is there any way to replace any components in the channel to make it newish again? I see the fuzzy/rubbery part in the channel, but it doesnt look to be servicable.

Has anyone run into this and remedied it with something simple?  I dont want that tape-on-the-glasses fix though. I want it to look pro.

sorry for such a weird question,
Pete

My fix for the rear window rattle was a felt no-skid pad :D If you have hardwood floors you might know what I mean. Felt on one side, sticky glue on the other. They go on the bottom of your chairs to keep them from scratching the floors. Anyhow I took one those, cut it to size and slid it in the window channel. It worked for me, and because we keep them around anyhow, it was a free fix.  Hope ya get it worked out.

Other than a remedy like xs-style posted I don't know of a cure for those.  I learned to hate sliders for that very reason.  I convert all of mine to solid glass.

I think just took tweezers and pulled the orriginal. I wont say for certain because its been a long time. The trucks been in project stage forever... but Im sure Im not the only one here to know how that feels lol. Anyhow,if I remember correctly. I stuck mine right on the bottom front edge of the left side of the slider. I dont think it would matter though.

I don't sell factory glass of any kind as it isn't cost effective to purchase/ship in comparison to what you can get locally.
