84 K10 project/dd, new
« on: July 01, 2009, 04:23:49 am »
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and to these trucks. I've always wanted one, so I decided to get it while I was on leave(I'm deployed currently). It's a great starter truck, especially for being in Alaska(almost no rust). The body was perfect, until right before I left(wheel flew off on the highway, see pic 4), it has a brand new engine, and it only needs a few things fixed before it's mechanically sound. It needs a new p.s. system, most of the steering linkage(possibly tie rods), and thanks to me, all the parts in the d/s/r drum plus the studs. I also need to figure out why the choke light is on, I'm figuring it has something to do with the way the guy set up the one on there now. Anyways, I have a lot of ideas so hopefully it turns out like I'm expecting.

Here is my list for what I want to do:

Engine-
headers & custom exhaust

Suspension & Drivetrain-
full 6" Skyjacker suspension lift setup with steel braided brake lines
ProComp 51's or equivalent w/ 35" or 36" BFG TA KO's
match the speedo gear and differential gearing to the wheel size

Interior-
Qualitex seat setup, Trenton with black fabric
Billet Specialties Torq Thrust steering wheel w/ Chevy horn button
billet trim for the dash and door panels
All new carpet, door panels, dash cover, seat belts, and weatherstripping
I've considered replacing the gauges but that would be a lot later.

Exterior-
A new front light setup & grill
A steel cowl hood
matte tan paint job
new windshield and rear window
LED tail lights
